The Board of Directors for the Fullerton Historic Theatre Foundation elected a new President and Vice-President on March 3rd, 2010. Former Fullerton Mayor and FHTF Vice-President, Leland Wilson, replaces Tom Tice as the new President, and current Fullerton Heritage President, Tom Dalton, will assume the duties of Vice-President of the Foundation. Local Fullerton Architect, John Silber remains Treasurer, and Dave Earick remains Secretary.
“When I was on the City Council I believed in the business plan and viability of this great project for our downtown back in 2003, and today that feeling is greater than ever,” said Leland Wilson, President "The organization has come so far with this project with help from the community and the City and we will soon see, in addition to other improvements, a complete exterior renovation…WOW! It is an honor to be involved with so many committed individuals who have such a passion to see the Fox come alive once again. And now, it's on to the theater portion,"
Wilson added.
“As part of Fullerton Heritage, we believed long ago that this building should be one of the cornerstone buildings for downtown Fullerton,” said Tom Dalton, Vice-President. “I look forward to working with Mr. Wilson, the Board, the City, and all the great volunteers and believers to complete the vision of so many for so long.”
The elections of new officers occur as the project moves forward this summer with the start of construction on the Phase 1 restoration of the exterior commercial buildings of the theater property. The Phase 1 construction will be funded with loan proceeds made possible by the recent amendment to the City’s agreement with the Foundation regarding restoration of the theater. The Foundation is also seeking additional funds for restoration through a Round 4 grant application for $500,000 from the California Cultural Historical Endowment (CCHE). The Foundation recently secured a written commitment from the CCHE for nearly $2 million in restoration grants as a result of the Foundation’s previous successful application in 2007. Vice President Dalton played a key role in securing the written commitment for the $2 million.
