The Foundation's grant to restore the Fox Fullerton Theatre was the second highest in a highly competitive process where 194 projects totaling $213 million were submitted statewide, for just under $43 million in available funds.

Todd Huffman, President of the Board of Directors, was in Sacramento to attend the CCHE Board meeting where grant decisions were made. "It's great that the Fox is being recognized as a major project deserving of CCHE funding. Our staff and board, along with the City of Fullerton, have been working on this particular grant for over three years and to see the project selected is very important. The Foundation is also grateful to Fullerton's City Council who have remained actively engaged in advocating for the Fox with our state officials."

CCHE was funded by Proposition 40, which was passed by the voters in 2004 and included $250 million in funding for cultural and historic preservation. The Endowment has conducted three rounds of funding and provided over $127 million for cultural and historic projects throughout the state.

"This is an exciting development in our efforts to reopen the Fox", stated Foundation Executive Director, Jon Wagner. "State Senators Dick Ackerman and Lou Correa and Assemblyman Mike Duvall were also instrumental in advocating on our behalf. In addition to a CCHE grant, the Fox also qualifies for $4 million in marketable federal tax credits granted for the restoration of historic properties. Combined, these grants represent a fourth of the total needed to finish the Fox."
